Well I am back from Vegas...WHAT FUN!!
BUT...we did have some moments that weren't.
My husband and I arrived on friday night...went to the casino in our hotel and I gave them my 2¢ worth (played the 2¢ slots...LOL). Ok so I played a quarter slot or two too. The next day we hit the strip...what fun. We took a tour of a time share..and bought. WOW these were nice accomidations!!
anyhows after dinner that night we go back to the hotel and get my husbands jacket. In the cab ride back to the strip..my husband loses his wallet in the cab. Well...we didn't pay attention to the cab number or anything. So we called yellow cab and reported it...no response. After cancelling all the cards and checkbook and Travelers checks, we go down to the Police Station and reported it...we weren't worried about the money...just identity theft. Thank God it was in Vegas....those casinos have cameras almost everywhere. We called securtiy and told them what had happened and the time. They then contacted survelience and got the cab number for me...Big props for the HILTON OF LAS VEGAS...wonderful people!!! Once again we called the cab company and gave them the cab number. It is now getting close to 4 am and we finally fall asleep. Just around 6 am the phone rings...it is YELLOW CAB...they have his wallet!!! We go downstairs and wait for them to bring it to us. When we got it back...EVERYTHING was in there...every single dollar. We gave the cab driver the cash money and thanked them TONS. No way we could sleep...Husband was having to fly out soon so we played our 2¢ for a little while then went back up to our room and got ready for the day.....FAST FORWARD...husband is at the airport..I am at the show talking to the Luci people when my cell phone rings. My neighbor was calling to tell me my house was on fire. My heart stoped and I couldn't help but cry. I hung up with her and called my best friends (he is the captain at a fire department close to my home). After a short amount of time I find out that the fire had not ignited yes...but there was smoke. Thank God for Powell secutiry for monitoring our home and the Murphy FD for responding so quickly!! I am sure you are wondering what happened...my sister left something boiling on the stove..well water was gone but fire was still on. She felt so bad. I am just relieved that my house is still standing. I think to myself....what else. The past 24 hours has been tramatic. But...I put on my happy face and FINALLY get to meet my online friends. That really helps when you have had a bad day. I think the thing that helped me most though is the prayers I said to God...I told him to keep a good eye on me and my family...DON'T EVEN BLINK, I begged him. He of course listened. Thank you God, you are amazing!!!
So the rest of the week went without the tramatic things happening...just good friends and working for the best company there is. I have to tell you....I respected Amanda and Margie before...but these women are AMAZING...so smart, and funny, and caring, and giving. They are great to work for and a joy to be around in a personal setting too. At the show we met many WONDERFUL people!! I couldn't shut up though. Normally the only converstations I have in "real life" are with my children and at night my husband...so to have REAL adult conversations all day...I think I may have even talked in my sleep I was so excited. Show went well and we came home.
Once home I was so excited to see my family and I had 2 dozen roses waiting on me...how sweet!!
Next Day
I check my email...all 411 of them. Then I go to my two favorite sites...DSP of course and then 2peas. How heart breaking was that...I thought people would be happy for us. But...I am going to hold my head up high because I KNOW I do high quality work. There is an old saying that quality is better than quantity...same here. If I did my papers at 200ppi they would be HUGE..the file size I mean. ALL my papers are saved at the highest quality possible in Photoshop which is 12. On a few of them I take them to a special program that the only purpose is to compress images...so the image is not as "lossy" as if it were done in Photoshop. Now don't get me wrong..I didn't say lousy..."lossy" is a term for the compression of images. For those of you who are not familiar...the more compression you do the more pixelated the image becomes. So...because I do it at 200ppi I am able to keep the save quality high. I am NOT NOT NOT saying that others work is not good quality...Please don't think I am...there are MANY MANY MANY designers that do good quality work!!! I love them all and don't want ANYONE to think I am talking bad about ANY designers out there....I respect and admire each and everyone of you!! I just feel I have to defend myself. Now...again because my papers are saved at the high quality compression...they can be upsized to 300ppi and still look and print GREAT. My papers are generally the SAME file size as most other designers, even with being at 200ppi. Now...just because someone uses the lower compression does NOT mean that their work is NOT good quality. Each paper is different in the amount of compression that can be used and most designers know how much they can compress before it becomes too "lossy". So please don't think that their work is not as good as mine because it is saved at a lower compression...It is still just as good...the only difference is they choose the higher pixel count with lower compression...and I choose the lower pixel count with highest compression. I hope that makes sense. If it doesn't ....that is ok...just remember this...THEY ARE BOTH GOOD..just designer preference.
off of that subject on to another
I GOT A NEW LAPTOP!!! I am loving it!!!
Today I will do some painting in my home and then come to my computer...and DESIGN...oh...guess I better get some new classes written too...LOL
TaTa for now....Loves to you all
